Caesar

Caesar (whose real name is not Caesar, but whose father nicknamed him because he was born from a Caesarean) is a dreamy boy, who lives with his father behind the dunes near the forest. His father is a hat maker and a wonderful story teller. The best story is the one about Caesar's mother, who has disappeared and now lives in the sea as a mermaid. Caesar has a secret place in the dunes where he likes to sit and hopes, against his better judgement, to catch a glimpse of his mermaid mother. And there is also the girl at school that he likes, the lonely lady in the big house in the forest he visits and the singer who lives on the beach in a house of shelves. By just being Caesar he helps this man to overcome the secret grief he carries.

The stories about Caesar's imaginative mind, his small adventures and the way he touches other people's lives are filled with hurt and humour. Reading these stories makes you want Caesar to be your friend or at least your next door neighbour.
