The Bastard of Brussels

Brussels, 1565. Twenty-year-old Crispijn Matsijs is owner of a brewery and pub in Brussels.
The city is terrorized by the cruel inquisitor Pieter Titelmans. Public executions of anyone who criticizes the Catholic church, are becoming a daily routine. Being a Catholic, Crispijn believes himself to be safe. But then the hunt for heretics intensifies and he also ends up in the inquisitor's torture rooms. Crispijn's biological father, Count Egmond, saves him and, unable to return to his brewery, Crispijn is forced to join the Protestants. When the Spanish king orders the vicious Alva to go to Holland to restore order and discipline, the situation gets even more dangerous. Even Count Egmond is taken prisoner...
